Creating a Live YouTube Video

Because it will need to "simmer" for a while firstly we are going to create a YouTube video. (it will take a while for the video to be available so hopefully it will be ready by the end of the workshop) The reason we're using a webcam and YouTube combo is because a webcam can also be a great microphone and YouTube a repository for your media which can be embedded in your other stuff. If you put a book or something in front of the webcam you are effectively recording audio only and YouTube becomes your audio repository.

Step 3 tells you how to make a video on you computer and then upload it to YouTube later

  1. Logon to your YouTube Account
  2. Click on "upload"
  3. Fill in Title, a brief description and a Tag (tag could be just your name)
  4. This is where you could select upload and browse for a video file on your hard drive
  5. Instead we're going to use "quick capture"
  6. Click on "quick capture"
  7. You will now be asked to allow flash to access your camera. Allow this.
  8. If you wish to make an audio only recording place something (not too heavy) in front of the camera, otherwise position yourself in the screen that appears.
  9. Click on "record" and when the "red light" appears make your recording and click "finish" when complete.
